Source: Samuel L. Blumenfield, "How Should We Teach Our Children to Write? Cursive First, Print Later!"

The British Dyslexia association recommend that children learn the continuous cursive style. The cursive style has some significant advantages for Dyslexic students. The key advantages to this system are:

* By making each letter in one movement, children’s hands develop a ‘physical memory’ of it, making it easier to produce the correct shape;

* Because letters and words flow from left to right, children are less likely to reverse letters which are typically difficult (like b/d or p/q);

* There is a clearer distinction between capital letters and lower case;

* The continuous flow of writing ultimately improves speed and spelling.

Dube1 ,

Seems okay but...

The lower case cursive r is incorrect. My daughter was writing it wrong for awhile before I noticed.

Developer Response ,

Hi Dube1,
Thanks for your feedback on our app Crazy Cursive back in 2015. We have updated the app several times since then and have made the 'change cursive font', much more prominent now. Your little one is probably much bigger now and doesn't need cursive practice any more but if you do go back and give it a try again do let us know how you get on! Also if there are additional font styles we have missed do let us know!
With thanks,
Vicky Carpenter Teacher & Director of MadeByEducators

Incorrect cursive

I can’t believe there is an app teaching kids the incorrect cursive letters. I can’t believe I paid for this thinking it was correct. I found out because my daughter said the words don’t have every letter so I told her to do the word “box”. The “b” is wrong. I went thru the lower case alphabet and found numerous letters are wrong. I didn’t even look at upper case. No point. Told her this app is getting deleted. Waste of money.

Hi wasteof299,
Sorry to hear that your disappointed with the game, there are many different styles of some cursive letters. We chose the style that the kids that I teach find the easiest. We have a feature in settings that allows this to be changed to the style your child prefers. If we have missed any out please do let us know and we can expand the range of letters and styles. We clearly do need to make this feature more prominent! Thank you for flagging this to us,
Vicky

Do not get this app

The app is very misleading. It is marketed as an app your child can learn cursive with, but that is not the case......unless you want them to learn the incorrect way. Almost every letter is incorrect. Find a different app.
