I am not a fan of cases. I use a pouch with my Kindle HDX 8.9 and take it out to use. I prefer to hold the actual device not some leather or plastic. I used my last smartphone for almost 3 years without a case or screen shield and in the end not a ding or screen nick ... a Droid X.
BUT, this time I felt the large screen of my Galaxy S5 should be protected.
I am so impressed with this case. The phone is BETTER with the case than without. The flip cover when open gives more to hold on to when taking pictures. It flips all the way around to the back when using the phone. The window in the flip cover allows checking status ... just press the bottom area of the cover and status shows for a few seconds.

One flaw, the flip cover does not have a cutouts to show the phones LEDs at the top of the screen. I thought that might be an issue but I don't even think about it. I have been thinking about just drilling some holes. I may actually do so as long as I can buy another of this case if needed and again for $20.

I love this case.

The magnetic latch makes it much nicer than the Samsung S-View case and holds the phone in landscape mode for movies which Samsung can't. The finish is nice, but not like having a leather case. Since this case does not replace the battery cover you must use an app to sense when the cover is opened and closed (Samsung works electronically). The Spigen software turns on music player with no option to not start up when opening the Spigen S5 case. I have set some option that crashes the app every time and I can't get in to change it. So I'm using another app to manage the display when the case is closed, that app reacts to every motion when the cover is closed and runs the battery down if I'm walking a lot. Otherwise it's okay if I can leave the phone resting on a desk or table.

The case itself is very beneficial to my needs. The window works as touch screen. The magnetic clasp has a nice grip and serves its purpose. The case does help protect my phone when I dropped it face down without the front. The phone is fitted, and held nicely in the case. The phone can be used (in landscape form) to watch videos/movies in upright position, and holds the form well. The only downfall is how easily the inside fabric holds dust, and sometimes get transferred to the phone screen. The cloth can easily wipe the dust off the screen. And the fabric inside can easily get a bit dirty since it holds onto the dust. Also, I ended up not using the spigen program as it sometimes lags or locks my screen from doing anything until it can "finish thinking." The outside fabric of the case is nice and has a smooth feeling. Overall, it is a great case.

This is a fantastic case for the GS5, the front flap protects your screen very well and is solidly secured with the magnet. The case feels great in the hand but to some it can feel less grippy than the phone by itself. The plastic inner case feels sturdy to the touch and while it may not be an otter box, will most likely protect your phone from normal everyday drops. That being said it is missing one thing; a press-able home button when the front flap is closed. If they had cut a small hole for the home button or even just made it press-able through the cover I'd be able to answer calls without having to open the cover. Other than that, I love the case and I'd buy it again in a heartbeat.

Decent Case (View Metallic Black Version)

Its a bit cheaply made, I was expecting a little more for price of the case it does have a strange plasticity smell to it but hopefully that will go away in a week or so. The window in the front has a piece of plastic on it that doesn't allow you to use the screen and s-view doesn't work with this cover, making the picture of someone using the screen misleading. The front screen can be used but it is very unreliable and must be pressed with a lot of pressure making it practically unusable. It does work with an app called Style View however, this app has annoying adds and is useless without the ability to touch the screen and it uses the proximity sensor rather than the magnets. I'm not having any problems with the heart beat sensor, ir remote, or any other port, but I would have liked a cut out for the notification light. The stand feature is surprisingly nice but it is not very stable for playing games or other heavy use, but is quite nice for video or as a clock. I don't think this case is worth 18$ and would not recommend it.

tl;dr: view screen is plastic and can't be touched, s-view doesn't work, poor quality for price, wouldn't recomend

Nearly perfect case for my heavy use. Originally purchased this exact case in April of 2014 and for a testament of how good it is, I'm back to order another one. Over the last year of really heavy use, my current case is getting a little haggard. I think getting a year out of ANY case is more than one can ask. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Only nit-pick I might have is the clear plastic section of the front put some pretty heavy scratches on my old plastic screen cover but since I upgraded to a ballistic glass screen protector, it doesn't seem to be a problem. Actually wish they made this case with a solid front flap. Alas, its pretty close to perfect as is.

This does not use the built in s-view function, it requires you to download a third party 's-view' app from the play store. I tried the one recommended in the box 'Style View Cover' and also 'S View Plus'. After messing with settings and trying to use the window, it just would not work like the official Samsung s-view covers I played around with in the store. If you just want it for the cover, it is fine. If you want the s-view features, look elsewhere.

I didn't like my bulky otter case. It made my Samsung ridiculously large so I looked for something smaller. I loved the simple sleek design of this cover. It still protects my phone; have dropped it several times without damage to either phone or case. I don't mind flipping cover open to answer phone and often flip it back into place while chatting. When using the camera you just don't want the cover flipped over as picture will not be as clear. The window allows you to see notifications and has remained free of scratches these past several months. I do not pamper my phone or the case, nor am I hard on phones. The case works for me & yes I would recommend it.

First of all, amazing delivery by amazon. Ordered in the afternoon and the package was delivered the next day. Thumbs up for that.

The flip case for samsung galaxy s5 is made up of a thick synthetic material with polished feel. It looks classe though it looks dull on the website.
So I'm pleasantly surprized by the finishing of the case.
It fits my s5 phone exactly. Also the transparent window on the front enables me to view lock screen, or any calls/notifications without even opening the case.
The side panels help to protect the sides of the phone too which is the prime reason I have bought this flip cover for since most of the flip cases avaiable do not have side panels or either they require to replace the original back cover which I didn't want to. :)
In total really happy with the product though it's quite pricey!

Would've loved if it also had S-view sensors!
